Boarding Houses, Between Impacts and Advantages?

Boarding Houses, Between Impacts and Advantages?
"In one hand, boarding houses bring advantages, on the other hand bring impact"

Mr. Ngadno with his boarding house.
Actually, boarding houses are the popular business in certain place. Not only profitable, it is also a long term asset. Such as in Semarang, specifically around Unnes (State University of Semarang), boarding houses businesses are more interesting.
As is in RT IV Banaran, Semarang around Unnes, around 50% of the societies have boarding houses as the main the main of support. As stated by the chief of RT IV, Mr. Supriyanto said that around 50% of the societies have boarding houses. From Overall 125 households, there are around 50% societies have boarding house as the main support. “There are around 50% societies have boarding houses, and 50% do not have.” Said Mr. Supriyanto (17/06/2017). It means that around 60 households do boarding houses businesses and the rest do other businesses like food seller, etc. They choose boarding houses business because it is simple and efficient, not like farming. “The advantages are because boarding houses businesses are simple and efficient, not like farming.” stated the chief of RT, Mr. Supriyanto (17/06/2017).
The advantage is also felt by the owners of boarding houses directly. Mr. Ngadno, as one of the owners of boarding houses also stated that boarding house is profitable. He has two boarding houses. The first is smaller with four rooms, and the second is bigger with eight rooms. “In this area, regularly the households have boarding houses, if one does not has is bad.” Stated Mr. Ngadno (19/06/2017). “The advantage is rather than one has empty and unused houses, it is better to make it to be a boarding house as the sideline business.” He added.
Furthermore, in one hand boarding houses bring advantages, but in other hand bring some impacts. The impacts can be felt by the society or even by the boarding houses users. The impacts are positively and negatively. The positive impact can be seen in economically, socially, and culturally. “Positively, economically the societies has new livelihood that is food stalls. Then, we can communicate and interact with the comers or even with the Unnes collages students because they can give new knowledge for society. The next is, cross cultural because the comers bring their culture here and give benefit.” Stated Mr. Supriyanto as the chief of RT IV. Then, negative impact can be seen in different culture, security, and norm and manners. “Negatively, because there are new comers, there are inappropriate cultures that cannot be accepted. Then, for the security, it is very difficult to optimize the security. There are many thieveries such as motorcycle. The next is about norm and manners, for example in dressing. Sometimes there is a very polite dressing, but also there is very impolite dressing.” Added Mr. Supriyanto (17/06/2017).
The impacts are also felt by Mr. Ngadno as one of the boarding houses owner. He stated that about the impacts itself depend on personally of boarding houses users. “For the security, cleanliness, and association I think it depend on the personal person in boarding houses. If the person can take care of them it will be okay. But, if there were something happened, it the careless of the person itself.” Stated Mr. Ngadno (19/06/2017).
