Reaching Andong Mountain Peak
Seeking for a pleasure of heart, a calm of mind, and a peaceful of soul are the things that I am looking for. These I can get by seeing the Majesty of Allah by reaching the peak of mountains. One of them is Andong Mountain. It is located in Magelang, Central Java. The peak reaches 3.136 meters above sea level. Although it is not high enough, but the view I get is more than what I expected.
It was started few days ago on Friday, July 21th 2017. Three of my friends and I hiked Andong Mountain. We started our journey at 7.30 p.m. after performing Isya Prayer. We prepared all of the things we needed such as mattress, tent, some snacks, beverages, and jacket. We also did not forget about the important things for hiking such as raincoat to anticipate raining, kerchief, masker, clothes, personal medicine, and prayer stuffs. Everything must be well prepared. After all was prepared, we prayed together by hoping that Allah would always protects us. Then, we had dinner first because it was important to keep our fit-body. Done! Finally we were ready to start our journey.
The journey was started! We passed Salatiga city as the nearest way to go Magelang. But, on the way the drizzling was coming. It was getting raining. We decided to take shelter in the empty house. We took a rest for a moment while waiting for the raining was stopped. A few minus later the raining was stopped. So, we continued our trip again. Just a moment, it was raining again. We decided to take shelter again for the second time. Rather delaying the trip, we finally wore our rain coat. But, one of my friends did not bring it. Finally, we had to wait our friend to but a raincoat first. All were ready. We all wore raincoat and continued our trip.
The dark night with a drizzling accompanied our trip. The silence and fully hope convinced us to get it through with fully spirit in our soul. No matter the dark, chilled, and rain could not stop us to continue the trip. Finally, after two hours trip, at 10.30 p.m. we arrived in the hiking base camp. We parked our motorcycle and took a rest by eating our snack we brought. Firstly, our plan was directly hiked after arriving, but we changed our plan because we all were wet and tired. We decided to take a rest and sleep to recover our body. At 1 p.m. we woke up and prepared for hiking.
With a new spirit, we started hiking. But, one thing we missed. We did not bring any flashlight. The important thing we missed. Finally, we used the phone flashlight, power bank and portable LED lamp. It was bad because we only could reach short distance of this flashlight. It was not recommended flashlight if we wanted to hike. We must use the appropriate flashlight that could reach a long distance. But, it did not decrease our spirit. Keep hiking!
In the middle of hiking, we also met some hikers. In the first post, we met some hikers who took a rest. Then, we continued hiking. The track was rather difficult and slippery. Suddenly, unexpected thing happened. One of my friends vomited. We took a rest for while and got some medicine. But, unfortunately the medicine we needed were not brought. So, we just waited took a rest got some herbal candies. Then, we continued the hiking.
The sky was getting bright. The stars were twinkling beautifully. We took a rest for a moment while enjoying the beautiful night. The city also could be seen beautifully from the mountain. The city was glowing from the electricity. But, it was great. Unconsciously, we were getting closer to the peak. It uplifted our spirit to reach the peak quickly. We stood up and faced the tracked enthusiastically.
Finally, after more than two hours we hiked, we reached the peak. Something we expected was become true. We sighted seeing the peak. There were many tents. There was also a food stall. Afterward, we looked for a spot for pitching a tent. Finally, we found a spot. We pitched the tent and got some snacks while telling about the things during the hiking. Unconsciously, the calls for prayer, Adzan Subuh were heard. Then, we were performing Subuh Prayer together. After that, we were waiting for sunrise. There were also many people there waiting too. We captured some pictures and enjoyed the view with a fresh air.
Around the mountain was covered by fog. Slowly, little by little the shadow of other mountain appeared beautifully. And, the thing we were waiting for was coming, the sunrise. The ray of the sun was piercing the fog and the dark. The king of the nature was coming and shining that warming our body. We perpetuated this moment by capturing the pictures and recorded videos. We all felt wonderful and amazed. But, after minutes the sun was covered by the cloud. It looked cloudy. The fog started covering the mountain again. Finally we were waiting for the sun to shine. While waiting, we ate some snacks and relaxed for a while. After some minutes we had been waiting, but the cloud and the fog still were still covering. Perhaps, it was not a good day. But, it did not matter. We were still happy and excited. All the things of our struggle were fully paid by this beautiful scene.
After that we decided to go down the mountain. With a pride, we stepped our feet go down. And once more, we were amazed by Allah from His creations. We are nothing and we have nothing. All is given by Allah.
