Definition

An official notification about something. So publicly people know what, when, and where it is about. It can be written or spoken. Some topics of announcement: competition, school event, wedding, 

 

Purpose

The purpose, function, and goal of announcement is giving certain people some information of what has happened or what will happen.

Language features

1.   Simple present tense

2.   Simple future tense

3.   Using exact noun

4.   Imperative sentence

 

Generic Structure

1.   Title

It can be written “ Announcement” only or “Attention, please” or the topic itself.

2. Explanation

Tells about the details, such as:

Ø Purpose : The text that contains what event will be held

Ø Day and Date and time   : Day and Date realization. The text that contains    when the event will be held

Ø Place : The text that contains where the event will be held

Ø Additional information: more details about the announcement

Ø Sender : The text that contains name of the person who will be contacted

 

Spoken announcement usually begins with saying “ATTENTION, PLEASE” or anything like that. In spoken announcement, you should speak clearly so that the targeted people can easily understand it. Besides, the information in written or spoken should be short and simple.

For all students of 12 graders of SMKN 1 Kalibagor, please attend the additional lessons for final exam preparation that will be held on 2^nd -28^th December 2022.
